working ao my Poole line and came across a problem.I have that William POOLE Sr. married Elizabeth TARPLEY daughter of James TARPLEY.But on another site I find that the same William married Elizabeth TAPLEY daughter of Adam TAPLEY.Can anyone tell me which is right so I might enter the correct line in my files...thanks
I have it that Elizabeth Tarpley, d/o James Tarpley and Mary Biddlecomb married William Poole, Sr.
My ancestor JORDAN TAPLEY/TARPLEY (born in GA about 1803)according to family story had 26 children... by two wives! The children by the first wife tend to spell their last name TAPLEY and the ones by the second wife spell it TARPLEY. I don't know about 26 children, but the following are the ones that I can document: By his first wife (name unknown) JOSIAH (b.1830), SOUTHEY (b. 10 Jan 1833), GOLDEN (b. 7 May 1834), CARLISLE (b. 1835), GEORGE W. (b. 1837), AVEN (b. 1838), PERMELIA (B. 1840 married JAMES J GOFF), JOEL (B. 30 April 1841 m. NANCY ELIZABETH REAMES), BENJAMIN (B. 1843 died in CW?), THOMAS PINKNEY (b. 11 Jan. 1843 married MARY PALESTINE COUCH), MASON (b. 1845) By his second wife ELIZABETH, JORDAN had: JAMES (b. 1848), WILEY(B. 1851), JOHN (b. 1854), ELIZABETH (b. 1856) and ELI (b. 1860). JORDAN was in Chambers County Alabama by 1850, Moved to Randolph County between 1860 and 1866, then Randolph County split and he ended up on the 1870 census showing in Clay County Alabama. I have found some descendents and they are all over so his family moved around. If you think we might have a family connection, I would be delighted to share information with you. G. Brack
This is probably a long shot but in genealogy, sometimes that is all that we have. My grandfather 's name was James Bailas Hughey TARPLEY Cooley. He was an only son and parents wanted him to carry all family names. I have linked all names except TArpley. They too,(COOLEY'S) settled in Randolph Co., Alabama. Also, one of my grandfather's uncles was named JORDAN. Do you think there is a link here? All help is gretly appreciated in piecing together this puzzle.
