Y-DNA testing is used for direct paternal line testing of men and is what we have been using for the Tapp project. There are currently 10 distinct Tapp paternal lines identified and this has helped many people make or eliminate kinship connections. For more information see http://www.tappfamily.us/tng/extrapgs/dna.phphttp://www.tappfamily.us/tng/extrapgs/dna.php or contact me privately.
FTDNA, the company that has been used for the Tapp y-DNA project is offering promotional pricing this week of more than 50% off their pricing for the yDNA37 and mtDNA for $119 (usually $248).I serve as the administrator of the project on a volunteer basis.I have no commercial affiliation with any profit making organization and receive no compensation for services or expenses involved with the project.
This promo pricing also includes mtDNA testing. An mtDNA test looks at your female-inherited mitochondrial DNA. Because mtDNA is passed from a mother to her children with no input from any spouses along the way, this test will look at your direct maternal line only and provide information regarding the single origin of your direct maternal line. The results of this testing will not be used in the Tapp project which is for men with the Tapp surname only.
