Re: TARVERS of Burke and Jefferson County, G
No, I am not related to Charles Clark III (1782-1752) but I know a lot about him, his ancestors and many of his descendents. Not because I am a CLARK but because I am a DANIEL.
My grandmother was Alice Elizabeth DANIEL (1854-1924), a daughter of Robert W. DANIEL (1809-1865).Robert married as his first wife -- Martha MURPHEY, daughter of Rev. Nicky MURPHEY, but she could well have been his second wife.I descend from his 3rd known wife -- Mary Jane RENEAU (1830-1912).
As for Mark E. Sr, what makes me think he was a son of Samuel III and Celia JORDAN is they move from Burke to Richmond between 1820 and 1830 and he moves into the same location in 1830 that Samuel occupied in 1820.That tells me son, especially when his middle name is Etheldred (Mark E. TARVER, Sr.) and he was born in the right time frame to be the youngest son of Samuel III and Celia JORDAN.
Another reason is Andrew E. TARVER acts like he is related to my GGF, Robert W. DANIEL.He and his wife, a Julia DANIEL (no relation to my DANIEL, I think), live right next to Robert in 1850 and 1860.Since we know Judge TARVER was a son of Samuel B. TARVER, he would have been a first-cousin of the Allen TARVER, Sr. who married Lucretia DANIEL, Robert's sister. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out this whole bunch was related, and closely related.
I think the only reason that some have said that Mark E. was a son of a Mark TARVER of Barnwell County, SC is because it was reported he was born in SC on one of the census. The facts are -- he may not have known where he was born and Samuel may well have been in SC when he was born. We know that Etheldred Jordan TARVER was born in Dobbs County, NC and Samuel B. was born in Green County, NC so it is very likely their last son was born on the way down from NC to GA -- more than likely in SC.
The other facts are Mark E. Sr. was buried, according to some, in the same cemetery (Hopeful Baptist Cemetery, Keysville, Burke County, GA) with Nancy Daniel WISE, another of Robert's sisters.I could not find his grave there but it is loaded with TARVERS and a lot of the graves are unmarked.
I only have the names of four boys for Mark E. TARVER, Sr. and Eve ARDEN - and no girls.Maybe you could fill in some blanks for me.I have Allen (b. 1805), Mark E. Jr. (1802), Wilson (1806) and William (1800).A Thomas fits into this bunch real well because we think Robert W. DANIEL's GGF was Thomas DANIEL of Tyrrell County, NC who was married to Elizabeth LANIER.That's is just my take on this DANIEL bunch based upon what we know about them.
