Re: another piece of the early Tarver puzzle--Jonathan V. Tarver
Thanks for the response.
I wanted to add a couple of items here which you may already have.
1) 1810 Washington county, Mississippi territory--at that time included land area which would eventually incude counties in both Mississippi and Alabama.Included in those in Alabama were Clarke county, Ala, Choctaw County, Ala, Washington county, Ala, Wilcox county, Ala, Morengo county, Ala and various others.......
The point here is that on the 1810 Washington county, Missippi territory census is shown Jonathan Tarber (Tarver) 1M age 21 and over and 1F age 21 and over--no children, no slaves.
2) Since a Jonathan V. Tarver is found in Clarke county, Ala records as early as about 1821-1822, the Jonathan Tarver found on the above 1810 census may be the same Tarver. And his son Jonathan S. born about 1822 in Alabama(as per the 1850 clarke county, Ala census)
Other families residing close to the early Tarvers in the 1750's in Northhampton county, NC are found in the 1805 Washington county, Mississippi territory census.A couple of these are the Boykins: Francis and Solomon Boykin.
It may be that Jonathan V. Tarver born 1770-1780 migrated out of Northampton county, NC sometime before 1810 and came into the portion of the Mississippi territory which later became Clarke county, Ala. settling there and reflected on the 1840 census. Not sure when he passed away at this time.
Jonathan S. Tarver must have married Catharine Buxton, sometime about 1846 before the 1850 Clarke county, Ala census was taken he is shown on the 1850 census with her and two Buxton males, Daniel and Martin Buxton.Catharine was born in South Carolina in 1819.
Jonathan S. Tarver is shown on the 1850 census as born in Alabama and in 1822.
More work is needed to definitely connect Jonathan V. Tarver back to the early Tarvers in Northampton county, NC, but as stated previously, Andrew Hipkin Tarver II may be his father.
Maybe some of the nearby county records in that part of Alabama which includes Clarke county could hold additional information about these Tarvers.
