Littleton, living in Somerset Co., MD in 1801
It looks like this might help those of you with people on the Eastern Shore.I have a 1975 booklet "Driving Tours in Maryland" which has a photograph of the Teakle Mansion in Somerset County. The only informatioon about it states:
"W. Prince William and Mansion Streets, built in 1801 by Littleton Dennis Teakle, an associate of Thomas Jefferson, is the replica of a Scottish Manor House.(Open Sun, 2-4, and by request). One block before the mansion on the right is the original gate house, built in 1796. (not open)."
"Saint Andrews Episcopal Church, on Church Street, was built
in 1770 as Capel of Ease for Somerset Parish, founded in 1692.The communion silver was given in 1717. (open by request). Here are the graves of 'Little Dennis' Teackle and his wife Elizabeth Upshur Teackle."
I am not researching this family, and have no further information.
