Eaton's problem was that he tried to do the whole county in less than a year.i have been at on 50 square miles of the eastern part for over 15 months.Tracing out patents and deed calls is frustrating in the extreme.None of these lands were of the size described, and most were not where even the owners believed them to be.Litigation was a cottage industry.
Eaton rarely looked at subsequent deeds and orders after the original patents.His major problem was in ignoring natural monuments e.g. streams and swamps.They, at least, give some direction.
