Re: Jeremiah Teetsell , born 1834, Saugertie
Since my original posting, I have discovered more about the pedigree of Jeremiah Teetsell. The Teetsell line in America appears to descend from Johannes Teetsel (Deitzell, Dietzell, Deitz)who came to America with the Hessian soldiers during the Revolution. He later deserted and joined the First Ulster Militia. (Brink). His wife, Rosina Fiero, was the daughter/granddaughter of Palatine settlers, who left the Rhine for Holland, then England. In 1710 they were then sent to work up the Hudson for the British navy. They had five children including Jeremias, who married Dorothy Beer (Baer) and Petrus who married Antje Hommel. Irving and Jeremiah descend from the latter. Antje was also descended from the Palatines, and her parents were first cousins. Their son Peter married Sally Maria Welsh. It is probably that her parents were Jacobus Welse and Sophia Regtmeyer. Sophia was also descended from the Fieros and the Hommels.
The Wells family descended from John Wels who married into the Dutch de Duyster family.
Charlotte Brink descended from the Huguenot and Dutch settlers of New Amsterdam. However, they also married into Palatine families such as the Meyers and Falkenburg.
Charlotte and Jeremiah had many shared ancestors.
