Re: Lanark Telfers (Baillie, Dalzell, Watson, Braidfoot)
I too am a descendant of John Telfer and Agnes Watson.Their eldest son and second child, John, who was born 08 July 1822 and christened 21 July 1822 is my GGGrandfather. It seems he is the only one of his siblings to emigrate to America. He apparently came with some Watson relatives. (I see that he is missing from your list of the children. But there is no doubt that he is their son.)
How did you determine the parents of Agnes Watson and her husband John Telfer? My mother, now deceased, did quite a bit of research on this family and was never able to sort out all the John Telfers and Agnes Watsons.
John (my GGG) married Martha Craig in Pennsylvania, USA,in 1856. Their two eldest children were Mary Patton Telfer (named for her mother) and Agnes Watson Telfer (named for his).I descend from a third daughter, Janet.Martha Craig Telfer was an indefatigable letter writer and carried on an active correspondence with her husband's family in Pettinain even though she had never met them. While I do not have these letters, I have transcriptions of them. Most of them are from a niece named (of course) Agnes.
Do you live in Scotland? This is the first time I have ever encountered another descendant of John Telfer and Agnes Watson. But it stands to reason that they are out there somewhere. After all, there were at least nine children.
