John Tennison (1750-1808) of Caswell County, NC
Caswell County, NC Tennison family:
I have seen most items written that John Tennison (b. abt. 1750, d 1808)married Elizabeth Betsey Cheatwood who is also shown as later married to Edmond Lyons. If this is the same lady, she was about 15 in 1798 and John was at least 48.John had 4 children who were her age and 2 older than her.
Can someone please share the proof that the wife Elizabeth in will of John Tennison (b. 1750) is the same Elizabeth who married Edmond Lyons?I'm not denying it, just want to make sure it is not just speculation due to researchers thinking he was the only John Tennison there.
John B. Tennison (B. 1776), son of John's older brother, Izariah Nevitt Tennison who was also living in the county, seems logical also. This John married someone in NC about that time also and had at least 5 children before moving to Greene Co, KY about 1810.She later went by Nancy.Of course, if this was the case, then Edmond Lyon's wife, Elizabeth would not be Betsey Cheatwood.
If anyone has a copy of his will, it would be most appreciated.
FYI..if you see my last post, you will find that Edmond and wife Elizabeth's daughter, Rebecca married grandson of John Tennison...meaning he married the daughter of his step grandmother. Also, old Edmond living with his friend, Levi and (older) step-son of deceased wife in 1860...if this is true.Kinda wierd.Levi, John's oldest son was about 3 years older than Elizabeth who was married to Edmond Lyons.
