Isabeth Thacker 'Blue Eyes' Christian, 81, of Surgoinsville,
TN, died Saturday, August 8, 2009, at her residence
following a three and half years battle of heart attacks
and multiple strokes.
She was born September 16, 1927. She was a member of Pink
Hill Primitive Baptist Church. She was the clerk for the
church for more than 40 years. She was a lving mother,
grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Christian,
the love of her life; two sons, Jimmy Christian and Ray
Christian; parents, Merlin and Myrtle Thacker; grand-
daughter, Isabeth Ruth Byington; great-granddaughter, Kay
Lynn Renee Lawson; great-grandson, Jonathan Edward
Housewright; brother, Mitchell Thacker; five sisters, Elta
Crabtree, Mandy Winegar, Pearlie Linkous, Ellen Stapleton,
and Gracie Lindsey.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Junior
and Loretta Christian, Jeff and Teresa Christian, and
Grace Christian, all of Surgoinsville, TN; four daughters
and sons-in-law, Bertha and Ralph Byington, Bea and Dana
Housewright of Surgoinsville, TN, Mary Ann and Bob
Childress of Church Hill, TN, and Virgie and Billy Falin
of Gate City, VA; fourteen grandchildren, David and Amy
Falin, Steven and Crystal Falin, Daniel and Lori Falin,
all of Gate City, VA, Rodney and Wendy Housewright, Dennis
and Danielle Housewright, of Kingsport, TN, Tim and
Tabathia Housewright, Tom and Ashley Christian, Mark and
Crystal Christian, Travis and Terri Christian, and Justin
and Amy Christian, all of Surgoinsville, TN, Beth and Jeff
Jones of Mount Carmel, TN, Tonya and Adam Barton of Church
Hill, TN, and Jonathan and Hope Thompson of Fort Cambpell,
KY; her special granddaughter and caregiver, Kim Housewright;
twenty great-grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren;
special brother, Wilie Thacker of Surgoinsville, TN, and
several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to convey their special thanks to
Hospice Care and their nurses, Renee Skelton, Misty Venett,
and Becky Sutherland.
The family received friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday,
August 9, 2009, at Colboch-Price Funeral Home.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, August 10,
2009, at Pink Hill Primitive Baptist Church with Rev. Arry
Hickman, Rev. Richard Watts, and Rev. Jerry Scalf officiating.
Grandchildren were pallbearers and honarary pallbearers.
Interment followed the service in the Thacker Cemetery.
Colboch-Price Funeral Home in Rogersville, TN, is serving
the Christian family.
