Re: Hugo thauberger born 1930 Russia
Sorry about the huge delay. I only checked this site today!
I have your dad in my database. He was born in Klosterdorf in the Schwedengebiet, Russia on 15 feb. 1930, the son of Johannes Thauberger (1888-1941) and his wife Maria Magdalene Baehr (that should be a with an umlaut or two dots on it, but for some reason I am not able to type it in here without being kicked out by my computer!)(1893-1985). His father's parents were Daniel Thauberger (b. 1862-3; d.?) and Mathilde Frei (b. 1864-5; d. ?). His mother's parents were Johannes Baehr (b. 1869-70; d. ?) and Maria Thauberger (b. 13 Nov. 1854; d. after Nov. 1942). So you see you are twice a Thauberger.
We are connected many different ways via my paternal grandmother, Maria Fahlmann, Mrs John F. Zurowski, of Southey, Saskatchewan. Maria came to Canada with her parents from Klosterdorf in 1893, settling in the little Catholic German colony of St Peter and St Mary's parishes near present-day Kronau, Saskatchewan. Maria's paternal grandmother was Elisabeth Frei, Frau/Mrs Andreas Fahlmann, so you see we share at least one ancestral surname so far, and possibly others.
I have been tracing the Thauberger, Fahlmann, Frei, Reilaender/Reinlaender, Ehmann, Rogoschewsky, etc. families for many years, trying to establish their lineages in Russia and Canada and attempting to trace them back to their pre-Russian origins in the various old German lands of the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation and surrounding territories.
Slowly the records are being discovered in formerly closed archives in Russia and Ukraine.
I would love to hear from you.
Best wishes, your Russian German coat-tail cousin,
Richard Carruthers (aka Carruthers-Zurowski)
son of Joseph G. Gerow (born Zurowski)(1916-1965) and stepson of a Carruthers.
grandson of John F. Zurowski (1877-1946) and Maria 'Mary' Fahlmann (or Fahlman in Canada)(1884/5-1946)(two of whose siblings married Thaubergers)
