Hey, Don. No, I'm not in the U.K. You must be referring to my email address. I got that accidentally when I was on the Yahoo.co.uk website, and didn't realize. I signed up for a new email, and ended up with .co.uk at the end of it. I don't believe Landroche was from U.K. But anything at this point is possible. I'm going with France, maybe even a place like Denmark or Germany. It's very possible they were Jews that went to France and then saw a golden opportunity for a new life in Canada. The name may have originated as Landrich. I'm just grabbing at strawsof course. There are too many unanswered questions. And anyone who has "for sure" information on the France origin, does in fact, not have follow up documents. I have requested them, time and time again, and they refer me to the Drouin Dictionary. That's documented, of course, but I want to see the documents that support that book (or series of books). Like the lists that they used to compile the book. Where is this information? Where are the ship records? Birth Certificates? Did the info taker just say "Next" and get the info from the person standing before him? Did he just take their word for it? Did they provide copies of bible records? Anything? Because I can't find any "Landroche" history in France. I'm not even sure there is "Theroux" info there. I think I already told you that I found a marriage document on my gg-grandfather Norbert Landroche, and his wife Laura Langlois. It shows "dit Theroux" under Norbert's name. And lists his parents as Jean-Baptiste Theroux and Catherine Parenteau. So for anyone that has these 2 people, they can now add Norbert to their long list of children. Norbert also went by the name of Albert and Nelbert, on different census reports. I think his French-Canadian accent was hard to understand for the census taker. Haha. I still search on... and on, and on.
