My grgrgrandfather, George Thiel, was born 1841 in Germany, immigrated to U.S. in 1854 and lived in Allegheny Co.,Pa. where he served in the Civil War then married and moved to Westmoreland Co, Pa where he died in 1927.

Could he be brother to your John Thiel?
