Thivierge in Trois-Rivieres
I am very interested in sharing and discussing a theory I have regarding Joseph Thivierge married to Adelaide Menard at Trois-Rivieres 20 July 1840. Joseph was the son of Charles Thivierge and Louise Desilets.
If you check the BMS repertoires for Trois-Rivieres you will see baptisms, marriages and burials for children of the above couple. You will also see children listed for Joseph Thivierge and Adelaide Jonca (Joncas or Joncard) (with her first name sometimes listed as Adele or Adee).
I have recently began to suspect that Adelaide Jonca/Joncas/Joncard and Adelaide Menard were the same person.
This is one of my brick walls as Joseph Thivierge (who is listed as the son of Joseph and Adelaide Joncas(Joncard))was my 3rd great grandfather. He married Emilie Lavallee at Trois-Rivieres 29 June 1863.
There are several reasons why I have began to suspect that the 2 Adelaide's were the same person (incidentally, Adelaide Menard's mother was Marie Suzanne Jonca, which may provide an explanation as to why she was sometimes listed with the surname Jonca instead of Menard).
Perhaps others have researched this family in the past or are still actively researching. Perhaps there are others who have suspected the same thing.
I would like to share what I've found so far and perhaps with the help of other researchers I can eventually come to a conclusion regarding this family.
