Ruby Thomas 1926 North Carolina - 2014 Washington
Ruby Thomas Peebles, 87, of Woodinville (WA), went to be with the Lord on July 1. She passed away at Providence Everett Medical Center in Everett due to complications associated with lung cancer.
Ruby was born in Raleigh, N.C., on November 27, 1926 to Annie Zachery and John Miller Thomas. She was their only child. Ruby passed away peacefully in the presence of her daughters, Kay Sharon Dizenberger of Snohomish and Sandra Elizabeth Chase of Bothell. Ruby's son E. David Peebles and his wife Carol reside in Starkville, Miss. Ruby's husband, Edgar David Peebles, preceded her in death in 1993. They had been married 45 years. Ruby is survived by her three children, their spouses, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Ruby was a patriotic, outspoken Southern lady who enjoyed calling herself "Ruby red white and blue." She embraced freedom of speech, deeply enjoyed her professional life as a legal secretary and maintained her passion for always looking her best. She was an extraordinary organizer, incredibly gifted writer and articulate public speaker. She led women's Bible studies, attended church services regularly and derived a great deal of pleasure from interactions with others. Her final church home was Avondale Bible Church in Woodinville.
Ruby lived at Greenbrier Heights Senior Apartments in Woodinville for 10 years before her illness, where she made deeply meaningful relationships with the residents. She was the nutrition coordinator at the Bothell Senior Center from 2002 to approximately 2004.
Her true passion and pleasure were found in her children, her family and her heavenly father. Ruby wanted it known that, "The One I have found to be my closest Friend is my Heavenly Father - and, my Heavenly Husband for years and years. Without His love I'd not have survived."
She is with Him. We love you mom and will miss you very much. There is no doubt that we will see you in heaven!
