I am looking for my paternalgreat-grandfather, John Henry Thomas, I do not know the date of his birth, but according to the 1920 census, his birth place was given as Misssissippi. His wife was named Nancy Garner, born in Tenn. They were in Tallaspoosa, Al. where my grandfather, George Washington Thomas was born on August 18, 1872.John Henry Thomas was supposely transfereing a lumber camp payroll on a ferry across the Tallapoosa River, when he was knocked over the head, his body throw overboard. His wife, Nancy was PG. and delivered their son, Geo. Washington Thomas six months later. It was also said, that the Sr.Thomas's father, was named John Henry Thomas also. This John Henry Thomas had twin brothers, who went West and was never heard from again. If your family has a similar story, would love to hear from you.I have good information from George Washington Thomas down to the present time. Sincerey, Rose Thomas Schmalzried.
