Re: James Thompson PA 1763-1768; Watauga in 1770's
I'm not sure if you can help me, but I want to ask anyway.
My gggggrandmother was Sophronia Thompson and her father was James Thompson (Sr). My line has always said that Sophronia was part Cherokee Indian. But, I can't prove it.
Her father James Thompson came to Iredell Co. No. Carolina around 1776 from Pennsylvania (but not sure where in Pa.possibly York Co.)
So here is the family line that I know of and I'm hoping you can match it to your line somewhere. My Sophronia line came to Texas around 1850 and we had heard the rumblings about the Indian heritage. When I made contact with the No. Carolina group.... they had heard the same thing. When I made contact with them in 1984, that was the first time the NC family had heard from the Sophronia line since they left for Texas in 1850.So there has to be something there.I just can't find it.
John Thompson b. 1730s???
children: James Thompson b. 8-6-1776
Annb. 6-30-1768 I think York co. Pa.
Does this John Thompson fit into your Pa family anywhere?
