John Thoms 1920's Scotland - NovaScotia
Hi,
I am looking for any info that may allow me to find a link to my family's past. Hopefully there is someone that has that missing link that is associated with these boards.
My grandfather was John(Jack)Henry Thoms, he left Aberdeen in the 1920's, not sure on exact date. He stated the reason for leaving was after his mom Rose passed away his father had remarried (they had children)and that he did't get along with the new wife/stepmom.
He was very closed about his family, we are not even sure of his last name. One of the few facts is that the name he registered in Halifax "Thoms" was from his family name. My father has believed that the family name is possibly "Toms".
He originally relocated to Kirkland Lake Ontario, joined the Air Force, married Margret Casey in Kirkland Lake. After the war he moved to Nova Scotia along the Eastern Shore, where his wife's family was from and did some work in the Cariboo Gold mines there. He eventually moved to Dartmouth, Nova Scotia where he worked for the city until he retired. He was an avid ham radio operator with contacts from all over the world. He died of a heart attack around 1977/78, he was 67.
I was hoping that someone has a young man that is a question mark as to his whereabouts, as there may be a link on this end.
John
