Hi Anne,My information about Alveston Thornborough's comes mainly from the census, so I expect you already have it, however I will forward it to you with pleasure. The earliest of my father's family in Alveston (that I have found to date) is Richard, born about 1833 to Thomas and Maria (nee Bister). He died in 1917 - His grave is in the church yard at Alveston. His son Charles Henry is my direct ancestor - he moved to Birmingham and married Elizabeth Sophia Freeman in 1890. From there they moved to Scunthorpe North Lincolnshire and raised their family. This is where I now live.
Richard's father Thomas was born in Stratford, although his siblings were all born in Loxley where his mother and father (Edward and Mary Ligon Dee) were married in 1799.I was told years ago by an Aunt that the Thornboroughs were from Alveston and that her Grandfather (Charles Henry) often talked of the village and said that there would still be some of the family there.I have no knowledge though of them though.I look forward to exchanging further info with you.
