This is to complete the information on Robert Wilson Thrift's children and grandchildren.
First, Kate Thrift married Johnson Thruston, who may have been from Kalida. The Thurstons lived in Toledo 2-3 blocks from the Edgar Kendalls (Flora Thrift)and their children played together.Flora and Kate had been married married in a double wedding in Dr. Thrift's home on Market Street in Lima.Johnson Thurston was a lawyer in Toledo representing the street railways.Subsequestly they moved to La Jolla, CA. Their son Edwin was also a lawyer, but apparently never practiced. Edwin had 3or 4 children; I remember two sons and a daughter. The oldest son, Donald, became a physician in Califoria. He would be about 77 years old now.He married a French girl while he was overseas. Kate's daughter Flora became a home economics professor at Oregon State and Cornell. She didn't marry until after she retired and never had any children. Kate's son Norman was trained as an engineer and also lived in Toledo. He had no children.
Robert W. Thrift Jr. married Pearl Clark (?)of Denver. (We still have their upright Steinway piano). They had two chilren, Elizabeth and Robert. Both died at 18 and younger.
Mabel Thrift married Dr. Artemus Grey, a dentist. They lived in Lima until they moved to the San Diego area. They had no children.
My father graduated as an electrical engineer from the University of Michigan and was with the Consumers Power Co. (now Consumers Energy) in Jackson, Michigan his entire career. He married Lula Mann and, as I indicated, I am their only living child.I was born in 1924, married Sallie Sparks, and we have three children, Elizabeth Reeve,a lawyer in Seattle with three children; Robert Thrift Kendall, III, with two children, and a lawyer in Jackson, and Diane Berkshire,in Slidell, LA with two children. I graduated from the University of Michigan Law School, but, after teaching for five years, was in banking the rest of my career.
Edgar Rice Kendall married Lura Simpson; they had no children. He was a civil engineering graduate of the University of Michigan and worked with the TVA and US Engineers building dams.
That is about as far as I can go, except to give the names of our grandchildren--for your charts:The Reeve children--Jonathan E.,Anna C, and Timothy K.The Kendall children---Robert Thrift IV, Adam W.The Berkshire children---Emily D. and Rachel G.
I am grateful for two reasons for finding this website:it appears that Craig Laird is a cousin through Margaret Thrift Skinner, and, now I have some good information on James Thrift and Sinah Ball.I will check my records etc. when I get home to see what else I can contribute.I would appreciate all that you can add on both before James and Sinah and the families which have come after.Maybe there are some more cousins out there.
