Thwaites and their shield
I'm quite pleased to find a forum on the Thwaites surname since it has been quite hard to try to find data about the surname in general forums. I haven't got much information about the surname: to say the truth, all the data I've got I was told in these forums or I found in online data bases. In Argentina the Thwaites are quite few- and fewer than they were in the XIX century- so it's impossible to get info in that direction.
Anyway, I wanted to say that I found a simple- really simple- pc drawing of the Thwaites' shield a couple of years ago and I'll send it to anyone that wants it. It's not much, but I checked the info of the shield- apparently from Northern England- and the graphic seemed to be right. I also found a second shield described in a commecial site: Arms: In silver, a black crosswith a gold trellised design. Crest: A deer's head. I have not found anything else about this second shield and the only allusion to a Thwaites in uncommon registers was the name of 'Thomas Thwayte' in the Honor Roll of the Battle of Agincourt.
Best wishes.
