Thank you, Olive. The biggest problem I have is the marriage of Lydia and Samuel at her advanced age. She would have been about 75 or so. Sam would have been in his 60's. The only occurrence of such a thing was if you wanted your estate to go to some one when you had no heirs and didn't want the lawyers and the Courts to take it. Pardon had a sizeable estate and his WILL shows this, so Lydia wasn't left without being cared for. Pardon dies in 1718 and Lydia marries in 1720 and then dies in 1720 and thissounds a little 'fishy' to me. The first I read of this marriage was an added note in Austin's Rhode Island Genealogies many years ago. I haven't seen any supporting evidence of that note yet. But my research of whose buried in Pardon's Cemetery in Providence doesn't show Lydia as being there but some 33 people are. This property was Pardon's. You can see a map of his land by doiing the following. Type in in the address space of your browser. Nothing else. Then click Item # 7.
It shows a partial of the map. Click on the map and you get the whole one. {Assuming you have Netscape and Google.] If you use another browser, then just dial in Google and go from three. I have the book on burials in Providence [by John Sterling]and it doesn't show Lydia in any cemetery in Parovidence and neither does on the 'net'. But thank you for your e3fforts. I'm on my way back to the Library in New York.[I'm in Brooklyn right now.] This lady is the parent of 'all' Tillinghasts in the U.S. She has to turn up somewhere. Regards; ELTON
