In the Charleston Gazette, Monday, November 17, 1952:
"Dies in Braxton.
Polemic, Nov. 16 -(Special) - John Tingler, 87 of this Braxton County community, died suddenly at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Willie Moneypenny, near Weston Saturday.
He was a member of the Baptist Church here. He is survived by three sons, Argle of Charleston, Sherman of this community, and Delbert of Sutton; four daughters, Gay Tingler, at home, Mrs. Jake Fisher of Birch River, Mrs. Willie Moneypenny and Mrs. Clark Moneypenny, both of Weston; a sister, Mrs. Rebeccca Smith of Birch River; 28 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Polemic Baptist Church, Rev. Ray Barnette officiating. Burial will be in the family cemetery here. The body will remain at Marple mortuary until service time."
