1874 Obit of Elizabeth Harper, wife of Stephen Tingley of Yale, British Columbia
Elizabeth Harper was born in Sackville, New Brunswick on December 29, 1839 and married to Stephen Tingley at Point du Bute, New Brunswick on 24 February 1869. They then left their native land (New Brunswick) for Fort Yale, British Columbia. Stephen Tingley had spent a number of years in British Columbia prior to his marriage. She died September 22, 1873 when she and her husband and eldest son were on a short drive when their horses bolted and they were all dashed down a steep precipice. Mr. Tingley was injured but she was injured fatally, dying a few hours after the accident. Funeral services were held on the 25th September and her body was sent back via steamship to New Brunswick where she was buried on October 25 1873 in the family cemetery in Sackville, New Brunswick.
