Fine for Lawbreakers The following criminal cases which were filed in the county court by State's Attorney W.A. HONOR AGED WOMAN ON HER 90TH BIRTHDAYMrs McShurley of Monticello born 1834.Mrs Hannah McShurley celebrated her nineth birthday Saturday January 26 at her home northwest of Monticello.Several members of the ladies G.A.R. and neighbors went to her home and spent the afternoon with her.Well filled baskets were taken by the ladies and a delicious miscellaneous lunch was served.Mrs McShurley is a daughter of the late Phillip and Rebecca Tinsman and was born the 26 Jan 1834 in Licking Co OH.The family later moved to Henry Co IN. She was theyoungest of a family of ten children and is the last of the immediate family.She wasunited in marriage to John McShurley in New Castle IN and they came to Monticello in 1868.She has lived in her present home since 1882.When the Civil War broke out Mr McShurley enlisted in Richmond IN with the 84th Indiana Regiment.The couple were the parents of four children at this time and Mrs McShurley told of the hardship that she and her family went thru during the three years her husband served in the army.She stated that during that time she recieved twelve letters from him.Mr McShurley died 26 May 1894 and of the seven children born to them just two are living.They are Monroe and Charley who are unmarried and live at home with their mother.Mrs McShurley has a fine memory and can relate intersting things that happened years ago.She is in excellent health and does all her housework and sewing.She enjoys the company of her friends and neighbors.She is very fond of children and "Grandma" to all of them.

Mrs McShurley of Monticello dies.Came to Illinois in covered wagon days. Mrs Hannah McShurley died at her home here Wednesday evening at 6:30.Death was caused by pneumonia.Mrs McShurley was the daughter of the late Phillip and Rebecca Tinsman.She was born 26 Jan 1834 in Licking Co OH, and was united in marriage to John McShurley in New Castle IN 18 May 1851(not sure of year print dark)The couple came to Illinois in 1868 making the trip overland in a covered wagon.Mr McShurley died 26 May 1894.Mrs McShurley is survived by two sons Monroe and Charley who make their home with her.Funeral services will be held Friday aftenoon in the home at 2:30, burial will be in the Monticello Cemetery.

Short illness results in death of Mrs Hannah McShurley on Wednesday.Monticello April 1st.Mrs Hannah McShurley died in her home on Front Street at 6:30 o'clock on Wednesday evening after a few days illness of pneumonia.Hannah Tinsman was the youngest of ten children born to Phillip and Rebecca Tinsman.She was born in Licking Co OH 26 Jan 1834.The family moved to Henry Co IN when Hannah was a small girl.She was married to John McShurley 18 May 1854 in New Castle IN.In 1868 they came to Illinois in covered wagons making the trip in nine days.Later in 1882 they moved to their present home west of Monticello.John McShurley died 26 May 1894 and of the seven children only two sons Monroe and Charles survive.Mrs McShurley was a member of the Henry H. Saint circle and women of the G.A.R.
Besides her two sons several nieces and nephews survive.Funeral services will be conducted in the home at 2:00 o'clock Friday afternoon by Rev G.W. Flagge of the Methodist Church.Burial will be in Monticello Cemetery
