Dear Clara,
Yesterday, I was really beginning to dispair of ever finding any of my Tomblin cousins. Then I got your post. For the past two years I have been the only Tomblin working on our family line. There are probably others, but not on the Internet.
I have traced the family back to William Tomblin Jr. of Albemarle County, Virginia.William Jr. was married in 1809.This would be Pendleton's father.Pendleton was born in Albemarle County.William, Sr. is where I'm stuck. He may have been from Farquier County, Virginia and fought in the Revolutionary War as a Dragoon. There is a William, Sr. listed in the Census for Farquier County.Does your husband know any further back than Pendleton?Does he know the original immigrant to the U.S. or heard any family stories about where they came from?Just to let you know, I started from my grandfather and knew he was born near Lexington, VA and slowly worked my way back to William, Jr.Its all documented. Its truly wonderful to find anothermember of the familyand I would like to swap info and stories. It great to just know you're out there.Frances Lee Tomblin
