Re: TOMLIN family of HEMEL HEMPSTEAD, UK
There are two Daniel Tomlins on my tree, one was the grandfather of the other. The first Daniel Tomlin was born in 1810, son of William Tomlin and Mary Fawcett. He was a younger brother of the Joseph Tomlin (b.1804) who married Ann Hatton. I am descended from this Daniel Tomlin - he was my GGGgrandfather. One of his sons, Edward Tomlin, also had a son called Daniel who was born in 1889.
I have had a look through the info that you sent but I haven't yet seen anything that would appear to conclusively prove which Joseph Tomlin was which. Unfortunately, because both Josephs married prior to 1837, we're unlikely to ever prove who was whose son without the benefit of a marriage certificate copy. Although the ages given in the various census entries might be some indication of who married whom (but only because there was a four year age gap between the two men), I would still not be entirely confident that we had correctly identified the two families.
If you have anything else that might corroborate your theory I'd be delighted to see this. Although the identity of these two Josephs is only of academic interest to me, I'd still like to be able to set my own records straight.
