I know this thread is many years old but it may be the key to helping me unlock my roots.
My gggrandfather was Christopher Columbus Tomlin b 1855 in Ill whose father William P Tomlinb 1822 in Tenn but I lose the line there
My ggrandmother once spelled her last name Tomblin so was wondering if that is why i lose the records do you have any idea when they dropped the b and in what state they originated in
