John Tomlinson, b. 1759/1760 (81, RW pensioner, 1840)VA; d. 9 Jan-Dec 1844, Boone Co., KY (Boone WB D, 473); m. 29 June 1778/80, St, Thomas, Orange Co., VA, Mildred White, spinster, of St. Thomas Parish; William White, surety. (Orange Co., VA DB 17, in Virginia Magazine of Hisotry, Vol. 26, 195) Son of William Tomlinson of Orange, who d. 1809, Fayette Co., KY. John was on the census in Boone in 1820, 1830 and 1840.
John had a son, William, b. 1778-1794, dec'd by 1844; son John, b. 1780-1790; granddaughter Pamelia Jarrell, wife of Benjamin F. Jarrell, and Milly Jarrell, wife of Ansalem Jarrell. (Will)
John's pension records said in 1777 he was living in Orange Co., VA and was hauling pork from Fredericksburg when he, his wagon and team were pressed into service for six months as a teamster; almost a year later he volunteered in the Company of Vapt. John Scott of Orange for three months; later he was drafted into the Company of Capt. Bery under Capt. Roe. He moved to Culpeper Co., VA, and was drafted for three months under Capt.
