Your posting pertaining to your ancestor, John Tomlinson,RS who married Rebecca Lucretia Hardeman interests me. You mentioned names of several persons mentioned in his father's, William Tomlinson's, will but did not mention names of other persons who apparently were husbands of three unnamed daughters. Those men's names were:Ephriam McLendon, Ansellor Davis and James Bailey.Do you have any information on the siblings of your ancestor, John Tomlinson?
I am a descendant of Ephraim McLendon and John's sister, Elizabeth Tomlinson who settled in Montgomery County, Georgia in the 1790's. They are my gggg grandparents. Ephraim died there about 1808-1810 in the area which in 1811 became Laurens County, Ga.After Ephraim's death Elizabeth lived in Laurens County, probably in the Rockledge district near their oldest son, Needham McLendon and his wife Mary Elizabeth Sears (my line) until about 1830-1840 and died there. Ephraim and Elizabeth Tomlinson McLendon had at least 10, perhaps 11 children, born in South Carolina and Georgia.
Many years ago some historian misslinked Elizabeth Tomlinson, my gggggrandmother, with a fellow by name of William Reason McLendon and it took me many years of research to prove that Elizabeth Tomlinson had married Ephraim McLendon probably in South Carolina and that she was a daughter of William Tomlinson who had died in 1790-91 in Effingham County, GA.
I would be interested in hearing from you or anyone who is descended from William Tomlinson. Thanks for your posting on Genforum.
