Hello Tony
Thank you for your information on your family Tomljenovic.I dont recognise the names mentioned but am interested in what you have to say.Have you written to Drzavni Archives in Croatia with the information you have. They may be able to supply information on your family.Try Karlovac as they I would say would have this information or may be able to direct you where you need to write. DRŽAVNI ARHIV KARLOVAC, Lj. Šestiæa 5, 47000 Karlovac; e-mail [email protected] will reply in Croatian so you may need someone to translate it for you.Like you I too do not speak or read the language but fortunately my parents do. Another place to try would be the LDS they rent out film on births, marriages and deaths on areas in Croatia that they have filmed. It is quite cheap to rent. What country are you in? I know they have film on Gospic area and you may find some information there.
I've been working on my Croatian roots for over a year now and am not getting very far. I've written to alot of places in Croatia and even been contacted by a relative (2nd cousin) over there by email but have since lost touch with him. He did say he would help me with my research, I have a funny feeling he was emailing me from work and now is unable to. He was so happy to hear from me and my family. He is a Tomljenovic as well. Im also waiting for a letter back from MATIÈNI URED KARLOBAG which Drzavni Arhiv Zagreb have told me holds the records for Lukovo Sugarje. Keeping my fingers crossed. Hopefully I'll hear something soon. Keep in touch and let me know how you go. You never know we may be related in some way.
