Tomljenovic roots
My name is Nick Thomas and I am American born. Both my mom and dads side of my family has some Croatian blood because of the melting pot effect. My great Grandfather Josip Tomljenovic came to the U.S. from Croatia in 1910. Although, in the Ellis Island report lists him as Austrian/Croatian from Lukovsugarje, Austria. Now I know that then Austria ruled that area so that's why it's listed that way. My family has told me that Gospic was the area of Croatia that he left when he came to America. And that he left his immeidate family there. Does anybody know if Tomljenovic spelled that way is common in present Croatia? Or any information of a present family in Gospic with Tomljenovic?
Thank you,
Nick
