Jacob&Martha(Tompkins)Bidwell/Sidney,NY
My 5gr grandmother, Martha Tompkins (b.11/2/1767,d.9/14/1843) married Jacob Bidwell (b. 9/2/1767,d.11/30/1846).They were married in Watertown, CT, and they later moved to Sidney Center, NY "where they were the first permanent white settlers".I have lots of Bidwell info., but NO Tompkins info.Their first 3 children were born in Watertown, the last 10 in Sidney Center.Children:
Jonathan Scott 1790-1864 (twin)
John 1790 (twin, died at birth)

Sarah 1796-1833
Simeon 1798-1888
Maitland A. 1800-1862
Lucretia 1802 (died in infancy)
Uriah 1804-1881 (m. Malvina Spencer) MY LINE
Lucretia 1805-1821
Martha T. 1807
Charles 1809 (died in infancy)
Prudence 1812-1813
Family history says that Martha's grandaughter, Carrie (Murwin) Flummer, was a large part Iroquois indian.Carrie's mother's, Sarah's, maiden name was Bidwell (Sarah, dau. of Uriah and Malvina). The Bidwells do not have any record of Indian blood in their line.Research tells me Carrie couldn't have been more than 1/4 or 1/8 Iroquois. So it's probably from the Spencers or the Tompkins.I've seen a lot of mention of Indian influence in the queries on these pages.Does this sound familiar to anyone?Or, do any of the names look familiar? If so, please contact me.
