Isaac Towery - Cleveland Co., NC - born ca. 1832
Am seeking information on Isaac Towery, born ca. 1832, the son of George and Katherine Towery of Cleveland Co.He was married to Mary Brackett (3/17/1825-3/23/1910), sometime around 1860.They had one child, Joseph W. Towery (1/24/1862-9/11/1914).According to the 1850 census, Isaac had the following siblings: Nancy, Lavinia, Elizabeth, Rebecca, Stephen, Catherine, Louisa and Miles.
Isaac's wife, Mary Brackett Towery, was the sister of my GGgrandfather, William O. Brackett. with whom she and her son Joseph were living in 1880.In 1870, she and her son were living with her mother.Isaac is nowhere to be found.I am wondering if anyone out there knows what happened to him.
During the Civil War, Isaac served in Co. C, 1st NC Artillery.Since he had disappeared by 1870, I am wondering if he may have been a casualty of the war. The possibility that he may have abandoned his family has crossed my mind, but think it unlikely as Mary's grave marker identifies her as the wife of Isaac.Don't think that would have been on there if he did.Isaac is not in the cemetery.
Anyway, am hoping that these names are familiar, that I have identified the right Isaac Towery and that some one may know something about him.
