Raymond Joe Towery
HAVANA - Raymond Joe Towery, 66, of Havana died Monday, Nov. 20, 2006, at Graham Hospital in Canton.
He was born Dec. 10, 1939, in Havana, the son of Lee Roy and Sylvia H. Peters Towery. He married Peggy Yocum in 1961 in Lewistown.
Mr. Towery was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of Vietnam, serving there from 1957 to 1960. He also was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving from 1961 to 1965. He was a member of Central Christian Church in Havana, Lions Club in Paxton and Harrisburg, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. He served as president of KARE and as a Special Olympics coach for many years.
Survivors: two sons, Randy Lee (wife, Vicky) Towery of Canton and Raymond Joe Towery Jr. of Annapolis, Md.; daughter, Lindy Towery of Canton; three grandchildren; three sisters, Sue (husband, Jon) Poler of Havana, Elizabeth (husband, Jerry) Edwards of Canton and Bessie Gietl of Springfield; and three brothers, John (wife, Marge) Towery of Chandlerville, Ronald (wife, Linda) Towery of Harrisburg and Richard Towery of Urbana, Ohio.
Cremation will be accorded.
No services will be held.
Hurley Funeral Home in Havana is in charge of arrangements.
