I remember reading that Toler and Towler were derivatives of Toller.Toller is simply "one who tolls" meaning our ancestors were taxmen!Primarily Welsh and Irish name, I think.
I'm curious to know how far the spelling of "Towler" goes back.I wonder if its recent?
