I don't know of it is pertinent but in the Perry Co, Alabama marriage records 1820 - 1900 there is a marriage of Keziah Bass to James M. Traylor in May 1839. This Keziah, there were to such marriages of Keziah's within a year of each other has a known ancestry. Her father was John Bass, who died 1820 in Perry Co, her mother was Julia Ann Holloman who remarried in 1825 to Jetson Green. John was the son of Edward Bass and Sarah (Stevens or Farmer) his contested will (Edward's that is)can be found on the net via google, he died about 1802 in Wayne Co, NC. John sold his inheritance to his mother, John had children Uriah, Richard, (Molsey)Ann, Elizabeth, Mary Jane and Sarah.
There was another Keziah who married in 1840, this was to Winston Farrar, her sister Talitha married Winston's brother Stephen, her sister Jerusha married their cousin William (my ancestor) and another sister Piety married Joseph Vanderslice. Uriah Bass, born 1806, oldest son of John and Julia lived next door to the Farrar's and Vanderslices, well were very close neighbors considering they were all planters.
Jerusha Bass was my great great grandmother and best I can figure is that she and her sisters (including Sarah who married William Pilgrim, all came from the household of Uriah Bass' uncle Andrew Bass who was living in Johnston Co, NC and the family was, at least, of mixed blood ancestry, at least native Americanif not some African American.
