I have used individual ID numbers and marrage ID numbers in my data since the days of DOS. Then I started using an early version of FTM (I've forgotten the version even) and could still use them some. I've been away from the genealogy scene for awhile. Well now I'm trying to get a handle on FTM 2010 and whoo... everything changed on me. Its a whole new world!
How can I still use my individual ID numbers? I read one post where you can use the Reference ID as a fact and that is ok, but how can I do a report on it? I'd like to create a report of all my names sorted by my individual ID number (or Referencer number I guess). From what I can tell I just can't do that or am I missing something? Seems that the reporting is very limited perhaps? I'd like for every report to include that ID number some how. All of my sources, photos and documentation over the years refers back to these ID numbers. I've use a combination of Alpha and numeric and it has worked well for me. I'd hate to have to trash my numbering system that goes back to the old PAF "rin". Also I'm not interested in the program assigning this number automatically, I add it when I add a person or a marrage to my database. Am I the only one doing something like this? Any help or advice would be appreciated.
