I am the grand daughter of Joseph Henry Trethewey who was born in Iron Mountain, Michigan in May of 1886. His father was Benjamin Trethewey. Joe was the youngest son with sister Mable Moyle, and Ida Trethewey. His brothers were Benjamin, Chester, and Frank. Mable and Joe were the only ones to settle in Montana. Joe married Maud Toy and they had Ferne Trethewey Towell in 1908, Joseph Henry Trethewey, Jr. in 1923, and Jack Trethewey in 1927. Jack died three months after returning from serving his country in the Aleutians in 1947.. of what was said to be acute leukemia.
Joe,Jr. has an adopted son, Jack, living in Havre, Montana.
Our family was the only "wey" here. There are many misspellings in phone and legal records, but to my knowledge all the rest were "way". Freda Trethewey changed her names spelling to have family she knew... it was originally "way".
