Lee Co., Va- W. Va Tritt/Kincaid/Light Connection
I am related to Mary Magdaline Tritt (1792-1852) who married James Galespie or Gillespie Kincaid (1792-!869). They are buried in the Kincaid Cemetery, Kincaid, WV. Her son, Pleasant Kincaid's daughter married my grandfather, Albert Pierce Light in 1885. I have some of Laura Blake's original notes(a copy)in her hand writing that states that Mary Magadaline Tritt's father was Peter Tritt (1755-1839) who was a Revolutionary War Soldier. She says that he came from Holland and moved to PA and later to Lee County, Va.I typed about five pages of her notes in which she states that that Mary (Molly) Tritt's brother was Henry Trittand he was a lawyer. The Branchwhere they lived on Loup Creek, Fayette Co. WV is still called Molly Branch. She states that Mary Magdaline Tritt, Henry Tritt, John, and Samuel Tritt were children of Peter Tritt whose wife was a Hoover. The progentior of the Tritt family came at an early day from Holland and settled in PA.Two sons fought through the Revolutionary War, one Peter Tritt removed after the War to Lee co., Va. where he bought land near Rose Hill Va.Before coming to Loup Creek, Mary Tritt and James Kincaid lived in a hollow Sycamore tree for a few years.Hope this helps!Has anyone solved the connection of the Lee Co Va Lights with the Peter Light in the Tritt family book?
I wrote a 60 page Genealogy of Rev Henry Light (1833-1916) that I am now in the process of updating with my cousins. It contains information on the allied families of Kincaids and Johnsons.I have a family tree on MyHeritage.com
