MONTGOMERY — Esther Mae Troxell, 88, of 1489 Elimsport Road, Montgomery, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, at home.
Born March 19, 1922, in White Deer, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Hackenburg) Wertz. On June 1, 1945, she married James E. Troxell, who preceded her in death on Sept. 22, 1993.
After retiring in 1988 from the West Company, where she was employed as a machine operator, she enjoyed traveling with her husband.
Mrs. Troxell was a member of Maple Hill United Methodist Church, Montgomery. She was also a member of the Brady Township Women’s Auxiliary.
Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, James E. Troxell Jr. and Rickie L. and Denise K. Troxell, all of Montgomery; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Judy A. Fisher of Montgomery, Mary R. and Robert E. Hill of Allenwood and Linda K. Jamison and Rodney Kerstetter of Montgomery; a brother, Charles Wertz of White Deer; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Bernice Troxell of White Deer, and Florence Fisher and Jean and Lewis Werner, all of Watsontown; nine grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, William and Jay Wertz; and two sisters, Isabelle Smith and Laura Wertz.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St., Watsontown, where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday. Officiating will be her pastor, the Rev. Richard M. Barner. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.
