Re: Truskowski/Truszkowski family tree
I've been researching the name for 5 years now.I have had the greatest luck in finding information from the polish nobility association, and have information on coat of arms etc... .
My own family originated from village of Jaminy, Russ-PO and left there for U.S. in 1896.Stanislaw and Anna Eva Truszkowski and son Casimir.Jaminy is just south of Augustowo, Suwalki.
Interestingly enough, the names are 2 distinct names, associated with their own coats of arms, and originate from different villages (( 3 Truszki) (1 Truski) found so far). All are around Lomza, Po in NE.The spelling of the name with or without the "z" appears to be a regional thing.
My own family history is vague on the "proper" spelling. My G-Grandfather's name as appearing on citizenship papers dated 1900 is "Truskowski".In the 1910 census his entire family lists it as "Truszkowski", which is also the U.S. Army's WWI name of record of my grandfather (until the 1920's when he changed it to Trusk). His 6 brothers on the other hand were varously known as Truskoski, Truskowski, Trusk, and Truszkowski's.All hailed from the area around Depue, ILL.Chicago area is main home of relatives with a branch out in Seattle, Wa.Also, one of my great uncles went to michigan.
I'll be happy to share what else I have for those interested.
