Will Of Nancy Truss
In the name of God, amen I nancy Truss, being weak in body of sound mind and memory, do make this my last will and testament, namely
First.I give to each of my children, Enos Truss, John Truss, Wiley Truss, Arthur Truss, Warren Truss, Susanna Bradford, Josiah Truss, and Thomas K. Truss, one feather bed and furnature.
Second.It is my will that all my other property of every description excepting negroes, notes of hand and money, be sold at public sale, for cash or notes with sufficient security.
Third.Out of the proceds of the sale, I give to my son Thomas K. Truss the sum of three hundred dollars to be paid with notes aforesaid before collecting the same, as a consideration for the improvements in buildings made on the homestead, which will benefit all the other heirs.
Fourth.It is my desire that all the negroes, that may belong to me, at the time of my decease, be devided into eight equal lots as nearly as practicable, by suitable disinterested persons, and the remainder of the notes, the proceeds of the sale afoesaid, and other notes belonging to me, and all money on hand or proceeds of the sale, after paying my just debts, and funeral charges, and incidental expenses, be also divided with the aforesaid eight lots of negroes ao as to make eight equal divisions, as nearly as may be, when thus divided the lots to be drawn for the first lot drawn, I give to my son Enos Truss, the second drawn to my son John Truss, the third to my son Wiley Truss, the fourth to my son Arthur Truss, the fifth to my son Warren Truss, the sixth to my daughter Susanna Bradford, the seventh to my son Josiah Truss, and the remaining or eight lot to my son Thomas K. Truss.
Fifth.I appoint my son John Truss the Executor of this my last will and testament.In witness thereof I hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this fourth day of January in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and fifty four.

Probate Court 2nd Monday in June 1855
Personaly appeared in open Court Daveriz Clopton one of the subscribing witnesses to the foregoing paper purporting to be the last will and testament of Nancy Truss dec'd, who being duly sworn on his oath, says that he saw Nancy Truss sign seal and publish and declare the same as her last Will and Testment on the day the same bares date, that he subscribed his name there to as a witness at the request of the said Testatrix and her presence, in presence of the witnesses and in presence of each other and that said Testatrix signed sealed and published and declared the same as her last Will and Testament in presence also of the said Allen Fuller and J. J. Godwin and this witness, and witness further swears that he believes the said Nancy Truss at the time she signed sealed published and declared the said Will to have been of sound mind and memory.
