Hi Maureen:
My mother is Berlinda Tuite born Feb. 5th 1924, daughter of John Tuite and Emma Jane Cryan. They lived in the area of Quebec City in a village called Leeds village where a lot of Irish immigrants had settled. They moved to Thetford Mines by the time my mother was born. Her mother Emma Jane died 3 weeks after my mother was born from injuries obtained in a fire.My mother had a sister Evelyn Tuite, Who died about 1990 and 2 brothers, Robert (Bob) Tuite who lives in Littleton N.H. and Howard Tuite who lived in Sherbrooke,Que. and died about 1992.Berlinda married Roland Dion from St-Camille on the outskirts of Sherbrooke, Que. and had 2 children, Ann Dion (myself) born April 17th 1955 and Lane Dion born Oct. 3rd, 1945.
Robert Tuite married Lucille Letendre left Sherbrooke and moved to Littleton N.H. in the U.S. They had 3 daughters and 2 sons. From the oldest to the youngest, Maureen, Linda, John, Paul, Karen Tuite.
Evelyn Tuite my mother's sister married George Bennett from Montreal, Quebec, but they had no children.
Howard Tuite married, divorced but we do not have much knowledge there, only that he had a daughter Louise whom I believe is in Toronto.
Lane Tuite-Dion married Muriel Pickup and they have no children.I married Carl Andrew Magoon and we have a son Jason who was born Oct. 29th, 1984.He has 2 children, Angelica, born July 10th, 1999,and Xavier born March 20, 2001, their mother is Christine Lamontagne and they live in Chateauguay, Que.
I know this doesn't directly answer your question, but I thought I would fill you in anyway about what I do know about the Tuite line in Quebec for what it's worth.
I was researching the family name and came upon your post and was glad to find it as I had always wondered how the Tuites ended up in Quebec, as all I could find was information about them in the U.S. or Ontario. Please let me know if you find out anything else about the family and what happened between Riviere du Loup and my end of the story. Thanks for your info.Ann Magoon
I apologize that the date information is not exact but my mother is now too elderly and has many lapses of memory.
