Re: Gerhard Tupker (Tuepker)/Wilhelmina Gausmann/Missouri
Gerhard Tupker (Tuepker) Sr. moved to Warren Co, Marthasville area of Missouri by 1850. This is still very near Femme Osage in St. Charles Co. I neglected to mention that and the fact that his 2nd wife was Catherine Dieckman/Dickmann with whom he also had 6 children, including Gerhard Jr.
One daughter from his 2nd marriage, Catherine Sophia married a Kuhlmann in Warren Co, Mo,and a daughter, Louisa, from his first marriage married a Westerfeld/Westenfeldt in St. Louis in the 1840s.
One son of his first marriage, Adoph, went west after 1850 and before 1860.I have had contact with some of those descendants.
Another son of his first marriage, Herman Heinrich (named after his grandfather, Herman Heinrich Gausmann) first lived in 1850 in St. Clair Co, Illinois and by 1860 and 70 was in Jefferson Co, MO.He married Mary Jane, an Englishwoman.
My husband is descended from yet another son of the first marriage, George William Tupker, who married Isabella Lamb, daughter of Joseph Lamb of England. They were married in Peoria Co, Illinois, but moved back to St. Louis where both died and left three children orphaned. The oldest was Henry Isaac Tupker, my husband's g grandfather, Joseph Tupker and Emma Tupker.Joseph married a widow with many children in Peoria Co, Illinois, but had no children we know of with her.He obviously helped raise the youngest of the children.Emma was born in 1855 and was given to a paster P. (Pierce) T. Rhodes/Roads of Knox Co, Illinois to raise. He and his wife moved to Kansas and Emma married in 1874 to Elbert Holt in Emporia Kansas. They appear there in the 1880 census with three children.More information can be found about them on the Holt family forum. However, I recently came across some census info on a Clarence Holt in 1900-1920 New Jersey, who could be one of their sons. They had a son named Clarence...and ...this New Jersey Clarence was born in Kansas. One census indicates his parentage was a father born in Indiana and a mother born in Illinois, which isn't quite accurate, but could have been all he knew. His parents did come from those places. The index of one census says he was born in Russia, but that was a mis-index....and the actual census says Kansas.
Anyone interested in this family or any of the names mentioned, please contact me.
