Many years ago, while in Chile, I visited the "English" burial ground on the cliffs at Carizal Bajo. This was where the dead expatriate miners and metallurgists who worked for the copper mining and smelting operations were buried. Only one tombstone was still readable, in white marble, partly broken. It read Sacred to the memory of Alexander TURPIE of Burntisland Scotland, born 1838, died 1892 age 54
Note that the P in Turpie is chipped and might not be a P but it looks most like a P.
