May have been Presbyterian. Henry m. Mary Hockley at Corringham, Essex, in 1837. Mary was daughter of James Hockley, a farrier, and Johanna nee Giggins. Henry and Mary (possibly having been living in 1851 in West Thurgood, Essex) set off on ship Sacramento from Deptford, UK, on Christmas Day, 1852, with daugher Mary, 13, and Henry, 3, and baby Alice. Alice died on the voyage. The ship was wrecked on Point Lonsdale, Victoria, Australia, on 24 April, 1853, with no loss of life. Henry was a carpenter.
