Re: Tutwiler information
Jerry..Leonard Tutwiler came to america in 1753 with his father and mother ( Henry and Verena ( Treny) Surber) along with a sister (Anna) and a brother (Henry). Leonard was baptized on Jan 10. 1740. It is thought that Leonard was about 16 years old when he arrived in america. The family had emigrated to Penna from Oberweningen. This information was obtained in parish books of Niederweningen, Switzerland.
It is believed from the findings that the Duttweiler's and others from Switerland at the times were dealers in Wood, makers of funiture, Skins and Leather and it was passed down to Leonard who was either a glove maker or manufacturer established by statement and account down the generation of his descendants.
Leonard's signature is on the Friedmans Church Deed but I do not have a good copy of what the deed says. He is also buried there along with a lot of other Tutwilers and their kin.
