James Armstrong Tweddle, b. 1842, Greystoke,Keswick
James Armstrong Tweddle (JAT)had 7 children. Two sons emigrated to North America. One went to Cody Wyoming, and the other to Toronto Ontario. The latter, whose name I unfortunately do not know, was my great grandfather. His only son was Ernest, and his only son was Jack, my father.
My father reconnected with the JAT family when he was in the UK in WW II.He graduated from Sandhurst and became Deputy DPM for the Canadian Army. He learned from the head of the Clan Fraser, Lord Lovat, that Tweddles, and variants on the name, are "septs" of the Clan Fraser. They believe that they were at one time known as the Frasers of Tweed Dale, as they lived in and around the valleys, or dales, of the Tweed River.
Lord Lovat was the founder of the famous British Commandos, and passed away just a few years ago, well into his 90's.His second son has, I believe, assumed the title and lives in the Castle on Loch Lomond.
JAT had a great great grandaughter who never married, and was the mayor of Greystoke in the nid 60's.Greystoke is a tiny village half way between Carlisle on the English/Scottish border and Keswick, at the north end of the Lake District
Do any of these geneology data connect with anyone else?
