Re: william tyrer, Blackrod
Hi, the Thomas you listed must be the same one as I know he was an insurance agent!Way back in 1991, I was trying to find my John Roby and ask the Lancashire/Manchester group for help. They put me in touch with a man who lived in Blackrod and he was such a dear. He just found me so much information and he was interested as my GGrandfather was very loyal to the Methodist Church in Blackrod and sent them money to help with the building project in 1910. I have a letter written to my John Roby on Sept 28, 1911 from Thomas Milner and then also a photograph of the Men's Sunday SchoolClass, February 1913 which has Thomas Milner in it. They were close friends with Reuben Holding. There is also mention of Thomas walking with my John Roby, recently back from America, during the Blackrod 1910 Field Day Procession. It is from a small book which I don't have. just copy of some pages where they are mentioned. This all fit in my history as John had gone to Blackrod to settle the estate of his father-in-law, Thomas Hulme who died in Dec. 1909. If you are interested in any of the Milner info I'd be glad to copy and mail or email it to you. Very interesting how we find things!! Thanks much. I'll let you know if I find any Tyrer connection any time.
thanks again, Lois
